Description
This is a real photograph of a snowflake. Not your "ordinary" snowflake though. A twelve branched snowflake is not as common as the usual six branched kind. They're actually two snowflakes with six branches each, bonded together at a perfect angle which happens at some point early in development as they fall through the sky. They continue to grow as if they were never separate from each other.

Ohhh my, this is gorgeous...Brian!! I had to do a double take!...I love snowflakes and don’t believe I ever saw one with 12 branches before! It is also no small feat taking macros of snowflakes...I once read an amazing account from a fine photographer whose passion was snowflake photography...MAGNIFICENT. I AM OFF TO BINGE on your portfolio...

Thank you very much Laurel! They are very fascinating and fun to photograph. They take a bit of work but it is always worth it in the end. There are great tutorials out there. Without them I wouldn't be able to do these. Thanks again Laurel for such kind words. You made my day. :-)
